Why Mariner Boating Holidays?

Small group comfort
You’ll sail in comfort as part of a small group of yachts, sometimes called a Flotilla or Yacht Rally, group size is normally 16-20 people across 3 or 4 yachts.

More time to explore
Our tours give you more time to immerse yourself and really get a feel for the destination. Our trips also include more leisure days where you can choose how to spend your day!

Flexible joining options
Our trips are designed so that everyone can sail with us - single travellers, couples or larger groups/families! For 1 or 2 people we offer the option of booking a cabin (max 6 - 8 guests plus a professional skipper on the yacht), whilst groups and families can book a whole yacht for themselves.

30+ years of experience
We've been doing this awhile and tend to know a secret spot or two. We know you want to visit the main sights (and why wouldn't you!), but we also love to share our favourite spots you might not find otherwise.

Your hosts
A Mariner Boating guide and a local technician will travel with you to assist with the yachts, berthing, provide navigational support with intimate local knowledge of things to see and do along the way.

Your travelling companions
Every group is different, but typically you’ll find your co-travellers will be aged between 35 and 65, enjoy keeping active, love the ocean, have a sense of adventure, love great foods, an occasional glass of wine, and a good chat.

Is this trip right for me?

Do I need to know how to sail?
Absolutely not - the only "qualification" for joining our sailing tours is a desire to see yourself on the deck of a sailboat in one of the world's great travel destinations.

That being said, if you wish to book a whole yacht you will need to either have International Certificate of Competence (ICC) or organise a professional skipper.

Will I have my own bathroom?

While vessel layouts will vary depending on which yacht you choose, most yachts generally have cabins with a private bathroom attached.

If you book a cabin we will always guarantee a private bathroom, but if travelling as a group on your own yacht you may need to share.

What's life on board like?
Our yachts (catamarans) are modern and comfortable with areas to relax both below and on deck. Most yachts have 4 double cabins and are usually less than 4 years old. Below deck you will find the kitchen (galley) where you can prepare meals with the option to dine at the adjacent table or on deck in the open air.

So throw down a cushion, curl up and read a book, or make use of the easy access to the water for a swim.

Will I get seasick?
Sea legs come naturally to some but unfortunately not so much for others. Your Mariner Boating guide will be able to help you with the effects of sea sickness if needed. The majority of this trip is on a yacht though so you will need to feel comfortable with moving about the vessel, including using the stairs to get to cabins etc. below deck.

Sailing Itinerary

Day 1
Welcome to French Polynesia!
Make your way to the marina in Raiatea and embark your catamaran. We plan to leave the base in the afternoon and head to a bay at the southern end of Taha'a for the evening.

Day 2
Today we will sail to Bora Bora, often referred to as the pearl of French Polynesia. Spend the afternoon swimming in the island's stunning lagoon, before we head ashore and spend the evening at the Bora Bora Yacht Club for dinner.
Dinner is included tonight.

Day 3
Spend a full day in Bora Bora and discover all that this stunning island has to offer. Chill out in the southwest of the island, swim with the mantas and the option to dine at the world-famous Blood Mary’s restaurant.

Day 4
Today we will sail to the island of Taha'a. Known as the vanilla island, Taha'a is a colourful, fragrant oasis. Snorkelling the coral garden here is a must but we also recommend a visit to the Pearl Farm and Pari Pari Rum Distillery.

Day 5
Enjoy a leisurely morning in Taha'a. Breakfast ashore at Le Taha'a Island Resort may be possible this morning, before we circumnavigate the island of Taha'a inside the lagoon, visiting the island's gorgeous northern motus.

Day 6
This morning we will sail across to Huahine, with the afternoon free to explore the sights including markets in the town of Fare. Tonight we will have dinner ashore at the Huahine Yacht Club. Dinner is included tonight.

Day 7
Today we will spend a full day discovering Huahine's Avea Lagoon. This lagoon offers the perfect spot to snorkel or kayak.

Alternatively, today is also a great day to head ashore on a land excursion to properly explore the interior of Huahine island. It is possible to hire a car or if you'd prefer not to drive, full or half day guided tours are available.

Day 8
We will spend today sailing back to the island of Raiatea where we will visit the historical site of visit Marae Taputapuātea, before overnighting in Fa'aroa Bay.

Day 9
Today is a very relaxed last day for us. Before departing Fa'aroa Bay, we recommend exploring the small river at the end of the bay by dinghy. We will then sail back to Raiatea marina, stopping along the way to swim and snorkel, before spending the night on board on the yachts at the marina. Join us for a final dinner tonight.
Dinner is included tonight.

Day 10

Our trip has come to an end and today is the last day of your sailing trip. After breakfast you will disembark your yacht and continue onward with your adventures of Raiatea or beyond.
