Join us in March 2023 to explore Phuket and Phang Nga Bay on our Thailand Sailing Adventure!

Thailand is one of the world’s most renowned travel destinations, with a wide variety of things to see and do, from culture, religion, food, nature, water, adventure, sports and also relaxing activities. There are thousands of temples and cultural centres promoting the unique Thai culture, as well as Royal Thai palaces to witness.

Starting with a 2 night stay in Phuket Old Town including a walking tour before boarding a luxury catamaran to sail Phuket and surrounds for 7 nights, your trip will mix the best Thailand has to offer; beautiful sights, history, culture and of course amazing Thai food, to create an unforgettable sailing experience.

The sailing itinerary has been designed to allow you to explore and enjoy the crystal clear water, the white sandy beaches and the stunning marine sanctuary that lies below the surface. Sail your luxury catamaran through limestone formations that jut dramatically out of the water and at the end of the day relax and watch the sun sink into the Andaman Sea.

Itinerary highlights will include James Bond Island & Phang Nga Bay, Krabi, Railay Beach, Phi Phi Island and a beautiful dinner ashore at the 5 star "The Racha" Resort at Ko Racha Yai.

Why Mariner Boating Holidays?

Small group comfort
You’ll sail in comfort as part of a small group of yachts, sometimes called a Flotilla or Yacht Rally. The maximum group size is 24 people but usually you'll be sailing with 12-18 people across 2 or 3 yachts.

More time to explore
Our tours give you more time to immerse yourself and really get a feel for the destination. Our trips also include more leisure days where you can choose how to spend your day!

Flexible joining options
Our trips are designed so that everyone can sail with us - single travellers, couples or larger groups/families! For 1 or 2 people we offer the option of booking a cabin (max 6 guests plus a professional skipper on the yacht), whilst groups and families can book the whole yacht for themselves.

30+ years of experience
We've been doing this awhile and tend to know a secret spot or two. We know you want to visit the main sights (and why wouldn't you!), but we also love to share our favourite spots you might not find otherwise.

Your hosts
A Mariner Boating guide and a local technician will travel with you to assist with the yachts, berthing, provide navigational support and have intimate local knowledge of things to see and do along the way.

Your travelling companions
Every group is different, but typically you’ll find your co-travellers will be aged between 40 and 65, enjoy keeping active, love the ocean, have a sense of adventure, love fine foods, an occasional glass of wine, and a good chat.

Is this trip right for me?

Do I need to know how to sail?
Absolutely not - the only "qualification" for joining our sailing tours is a desire to see yourself on the deck of a sailboat in one of the great travelling destinations of the world

That being said, if you wish to book a whole yacht you will need to either have International Certificate of Competence (ICC) or organise a professional skipper.

Will I have my own bathroom?

While vessel layouts will vary depending on which yacht you choose, most catamarans generally have cabins with a private bathroom attached.

If you book a cabin we will always guarantee a private bathroom, but if travelling as a group on your own yacht you may need to share.

What's life on board like?
Our yachts (catamarans) are modern and comfortable with areas to relax both below and on deck. Most yachts have 4 double cabins and are usually less than 4 years old. Below deck you will find the kitchen (galley) where you can prepare meals with the option to dine at the adjacent table or on deck in the open air.

So throw down a cushion, curl up and read a book, or make use of the easy access to the water for a swim.

Will I get seasick?
Sea legs come naturally to some but unfortunately not so much for others. Your Mariner Boating guide will be able to suggest some options to help you with the effects of sea sickness if needed. The majority of this trip is on a yacht though so you will need to feel comfortable moving about the vessel, including using the stairs to get to cabins etc. below deck.

Sailing Itinerary

Day 1 - Thursday
Arrive Phuket and make your way to Phuket Old Town for a 2 night stay.

Day 2 - Friday

After breakfast, enjoy a guided walking tour of the old town before later joining us for sunset welcome drinks at the hotel.
Welcome drinks are included tonight.

Day 3 - Saturday
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and explore more of Phuket. We recommend a visit to Wat Chalong and the Big Buddha to see a more traditional side of Phuket.

In the afternoon meet at the hotel lobby for our transfer to the marina. We’ll embark the yachts then enjoy a group dinner and overnight at the marina. Dinner is included tonight.

Day 4 - Sunday
Cruise through Phang Nga Bay. Visit the famous James Bond Island (Koh Ping Kan) and enjoy the beautiful views of the sheer cliffs of the bay.

Day 5 - Monday
Wind your way from Koh Kudu Yai to Krabi. Spend the day exploring the islands of Pakbia, Lading and Hong Island, before sailing to Railay Beach for the evening. Head ashore and enjoy dinner at one of the many restaurants on Railay beach.

Day 6 - Tuesday
Start the morning with a swim stop at Koh Poda before sailing to the stunning island of Koh Phi Phi Don. Enjoy the afternoon shopping in the lively village or experience a real Thai massage. Tonsai Bay has a range of restaurants, bars, and street food options for a fun night in town.

Day 7 - Wednesday
Sail south to Koh Phi Phi Leh for our visit to Pi Leh Lagoon and Maya Bay, which was made famous from the movie “The Beach”. Today will be an early start to beat the crowds but well worth it to see Maya Bay, it really is a bucket list destination!

We’ll then sail from Phi Phi Leh to Ko Racha Yai where you will find a real tropical island paradise. The white sand contrasts perfectly with the turquoise water and is a welcome site at the end of your day.
Dinner ashore is included tonight at the
5 star 'The Racha' Resort.

Day 8 - Thursday
Spend the morning relaxing in this tranquil group of islands, before sailing to Ao Yon and Cape Panwa.

Along the way visit Coral Island’s Banana Beach (Koh Hey) for a swim and perhaps some watersports if feeling adventurous.
Dinner ashore is included tonight.

Day 9 - Friday
Sail from Ao Yon to Yacht Haven Marina.
Our final day will be exploring the East Coast of Phuket Island. Stop at Koh Khai islands for lunch and a swim before sailing to the marina for our last night.
