Why Mariner Boating Holidays?

Small group comfort
You’ll sail in comfort as part of a small group of yachts, sometimes called a Flotilla or Yacht Rally. The maximum group size is 24 people but usually you'll be sailing with 12-18 people across 2 or 3 yachts.

More time to explore
Our tours give you more time to immerse yourself and really get a feel for the destination. Our trips also include more leisure days where you can choose how to spend your day!

Flexible joining options
Our trips are designed so that everyone can sail with us - single travellers, couples or larger groups/families! For 1 or 2 people we offer the option of booking a cabin (max 6 guests plus a professional skipper on the yacht), whilst groups and families can book the whole yacht for themselves.

30+ years of experience
We've been doing this awhile and tend to know a secret spot or two. We know you want to visit the main sights (and why wouldn't you!), but we also love to share our favourite spots you might not find otherwise.

Your hosts
A Mariner Boating guide and a local technician will travel with you to assist with the yachts, berthing, provide navigational support and have intimate local knowledge of things to see and do along the way.

Your travelling companions
Every group is different, but typically you’ll find your co-travellers will be aged between 40 and 65, enjoy keeping active, love the ocean, have a sense of adventure, love fine foods, an occasional glass of wine, and a good chat.

Is this trip right for me?

Do I need to know how to sail?
Absolutely not - the only "qualification" for joining our sailing tours is a desire to see yourself on the deck of a sailboat in one of the great travelling destinations of the world

That being said, if you wish to book a whole yacht you will need to either have International Certificate of Competence (ICC) or organise a professional skipper.

Will I have my own bathroom?

While vessel layouts will vary depending on which yacht you choose, most catamarans generally have cabins with a private bathroom attached.

If you book a cabin we will always guarantee a private bathroom, but if travelling as a group on your own yacht you may need to share.

What's life on board like?
Our yachts (catamarans) are modern and comfortable with areas to relax both below and on deck. Most yachts have 4 double cabins and are usually less than 4 years old. Below deck you will find the kitchen (galley) where you can prepare meals with the option to dine at the adjacent table or on deck in the open air.

So throw down a cushion, curl up and read a book, or make use of the easy access to the water for a swim.

Will I get seasick?
Sea legs come naturally to some but unfortunately not so much for others. Your Mariner Boating guide will be able to suggest some options to help you with the effects of sea sickness if needed. The majority of this trip is on a yacht though so you will need to feel comfortable moving about the vessel, including using the stairs to get to cabins etc. below deck.

Phuket Sailing Itinerary

Day 1 - Thursday - 11 April
Welcome to Thailand! Arrive Phuket and make your way to Phuket Old Town for a 2 night stay if joining us for the full 9 night Thailand Sailing tour.

Day 2 - Friday - 12 April

After breakfast, enjoy a guided walking tour of the old town including lunch, before joining us for a welcome dinner at the famous Blue Elephant Restaurant.
Lunch and dinner are included today

Day 3 - Saturday - 13 April
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and explore more of Phuket. We recommend a visit to Wat Chalong to see a more traditional side of Phuket. A stop at the local market is also a must to buy fresh fruit and vegetables for the week.

In the afternoon meet at the hotel lobby for our transfer to the marina.

Guests booked on 7 night sailing only please make your own way to the marina and join the group for boarding.

We’ll embark the yachts and sail to our first island in Phang Nga Bay to spend the night.

Day 4 - Sunday - 14 April
Cruise through Phang Nga Bay. Visit the famous James Bond Island (Koh Ping Kan) and enjoy the beautiful views of the sheer cliffs of the bay. Tonight we will spend the evening anchored near the beautiful Pakbia island.

Day 5 - Monday - 15 April
This morning we will sail to Ao Thalene for an optional kayak tour. After lunch we will make our way to Koh Yao Noi where we will head ashore for dinner at the beautiful Cape Kudu Hotel. Dinner here was a highlight of our 2023 trip! Dinner is included tonight.

Day 6 - Tuesday - 16 April
Today we will have an early start to visit Koh Hong Lagoon and spend the morning exploring before the longtail boats start to arrive. When quiet, the lagoon is stunning and a sight to behold. Afterwards we will then sail to Railay Beach for the evening, where we can head ashore and enjoy dinner at one of the many restaurants.

Day 7 - Wednesday - 17 April
Spend the morning enjoying Railay Beach without the crowds before we sail to Bamboo Island for a lunch and snorkelling stop. In the afternoon we will sail to Koh Phi Phi Don, to spend the night at pristine Ao Yongkasem Beach, also known as Monkey Beach, which is also an amazing, and protected, snorkelling spot!

Day 8 - Thursday - 18 April
Sail south to Koh Phi Phi Leh for our visit to Pi Leh Lagoon and Maya Bay, which was made famous from the movie “The Beach”. Today will be an early start to beat the crowds but well worth it to see Maya Bay.

We’ll then sail from Phi Phi Leh to Ao Yon, Phuket. If time permits, we will stop at Maithon Island along the way for a swim stop. Dinner ashore is included tonight.

Day 9 - Friday - 19 April
Spend a leisurely morning ashore at Ao Yon, perhaps breakfast ashore in a cafe, or a massage might entice you. Our final day will be spent exploring the East Coast of Phuket Island. Stop at Rang Yai island for lunch and a swim before sailing to Naka Island for our last night. Farewell lunch and drinks are included today.
